ABOUT US
Mission: The aim of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Economics is to provide students with theoretical and historical knowledge of Economics, supported by other social sciences and language skills to help them in both their academic and professional lives.
Vision: To enrich our students' knowledge of economics through the study of theory and history as well as contemporary, critical and interdisciplinary approaches.
The academic staff of our department includes 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 8 Assistant Professors and 1 Research Assistant. Our department has 4 departments: Economic Policy, Economic History, Economic Theory and Economic Development and International Economics.
Our graduates have the opportunity to find jobs in public institutions such as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Capital Markets Board, Turkish Statistical Institute, Public Procurement Authority, Energy Market Regulatory Authority as well as private financial institutions and firms.
Students of the Department of Economics can have the opportunity to study in other departments of Karabük University with double major and minor programs. In addition, there are also opportunities to study in higher education institutions abroad with the Erasmus program.
As of the spring semester of 2024/2025, our department has a total of 475 students, including 251 foreign students from 33 different countries and 224 Turkish students.
