Economics is a social science that focuses on the whole process, starting from the stage of deciding on the production of goods and services, including the solution of the final problems that arise after the consumption of these goods and services. In order to educate individuals who can contribute to the evaluation and solution of all economic and social phenomena that may arise in this process, our department continues its education and training activities with an 8-semester curriculum prepared in a way to benefit from other related social sciences, primarily economics.
The academic staff of our department includes 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 7 Assistant Professors, 1 Research Assistant Doctor and 1 Research Assistant. Our department has 4 departments: Economic Policy, Economic History, Economic Theory and Economic Development and International Economics.
Our graduates have the opportunity to find jobs in public institutions such as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, Capital Markets Board, Turkish Statistical Institute, Public Procurement Authority, Energy Market Regulatory Authority as well as private financial institutions and firms.
Students of the Department of Economics can have the opportunity to study in other departments of Karabük University with double major and minor programs. In addition, there are also opportunities to study in higher education institutions abroad with the Erasmus program.
As of the spring semester of 2022/2023, our department has a total of 611 students, including 361 foreign students from 33 different countries and 250 Turkish students.
